Solid circles are do — the root — at every position it lives. With the mic on, the syllable you’re singing lights up on every string at once: a filled circle with a check inside ±25¢, a hollow ring with an arrow outside it — ▲ sing higher, ▼ sing lower. Octave doesn’t matter, so sing it where your voice is comfortable. The neck is spelled for the key you picked, the same way that key's fretboard chart is.

Why sing what you play?

  • If you can sing an interval, you own it. Singing 1-do up to 5-sol wires the sound into your body in a way listening alone never does — and it transfers straight to finding notes on the guitar.
  • This is movable do: do is whatever key you pick, so the syllables describe the relationships, not the note names. A major triad is do-mi-sol in every key.
  • Sing each pattern up and back down. Coming down is harder — that is where the practice is.
  • Turn on the do drone and hold the home note under your voice. Singing against a drone is the fastest way to hear when a degree is flat or sharp.
  • Graduate to call & response: the piano plays the line, then goes quiet while you sing it back from memory. Add mic grading and every note gets checked — sung in your own octave, scored on this device only.
  • Pick the key that fits your voice. Lower voices usually sit well with do around C3–F3; higher voices around C4–F4. Comfort beats theory here.
