Why train your ear?
- Intervals are how melodies are built. Recognizing a perfect 5th or minor 3rd on the fly is what lets you pick out riffs and solos without hunting for them fret by fret.
- Anchor each interval to a song you know — the first two notes of the Star Wars theme are a perfect 5th, Jaws is a minor 2nd. The explanations after each answer give you one for every interval.
- Note ID sharpens relative pitch: hold the reference C in your head and measure the mystery note against it. That's the same skill as staying oriented in a key while you play.
- Little and often beats marathon sessions — one 20-question test a day does more than an hour once a week.
